Hi, I'm Solomon
Thiong Garang Leek
Software Engineer Graphic Designer Youth & Education Advocate
Software Engineering student at ALU, Kigali — designing and engineering solutions that solve real-world problems in education, healthcare, and community development.
About Me
Not just a developer. A problem-solver, a designer, and a leader — driven by one belief: technology should create real change for real people. That's the standard every project is held to.
I am a Software Engineering student at African Leadership University (ALU) in Kigali, Rwanda, originally from South Sudan. My work sits at the intersection of software engineering, visual communication, and social impact.
I began with graphic design, which sharpened my eye for clarity, structure, and storytelling. That creative foundation naturally evolved into frontend development and Python, where I learned to transform ideas into scalable, usable solutions. Today, every project I take on follows one principle: deliver work that performs, communicates clearly, and creates measurable value.
Open to internships, collaborative projects, and opportunities where I can contribute, learn, and grow.

HealthHub Bridge — Clinic Management System
A full-stack clinic management platform built for community health facilities in South Sudan, where most clinics still rely on paper records. Covers patient registration, appointment scheduling with double-booking prevention, medical records, billing, and role-based access for Receptionists, Doctors, and Admins. ALU BSc. Software Engineering final project.
HealthHub Medical Finder
A global medical facility finder deployed at solomonleek.tech. Users locate nearby hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, dental and optical centers within a 1–100km radius using Google Places API and OpenStreetMap. Features an interactive Leaflet map with Street View, appointment booking, favorites management, search history, and a 10-minute intelligent cache. Deployed on Nginx with round-robin load balancing, UFW firewall, and XSS protection.
MoMo Database Design & Implementation
A normalized relational database system for processing Mobile Money SMS transaction data. Designed with 5 core tables (Users, Transactions, Transaction Categories, System Logs, and a junction table for M:N relationships), composite indexes for query performance, foreign key and check constraints for data integrity, and a full audit trail. Includes JSON schemas for API-ready response formats.
MoMo REST API — Mobile Money Transaction System
A full CRUD REST API for managing Mobile Money transaction records parsed from SMS XML data — built with pure Python, no frameworks. I handled the authentication and security layer (Basic Auth, authorization, endpoint protection). Includes a DSA performance comparison showing dictionary lookup is ~30x faster than linear search (O(1) vs O(n)).
NYC Urban Mobility Data Explorer
A full-stack data engineering project analyzing NYC taxi trip patterns from 1M+ real-world records. Features a custom 7-step data cleaning pipeline, a min-heap algorithm (O(n log k)) for top-K zone selection, a normalized SQLite database, 7 RESTful API endpoints, and an interactive dashboard with choropleth maps and real-time filtering.
